Real Reef Artificial Live Rock Now Available

We’re very happy to make an eco-friendly alternative to live rock available to our customers. This rock is entirely man-made calcium carbonate and cultured with beneficial bacteria and coraline algae. The shapes of this rock are varied and realistic, but it feels slightly more dense than a lot of the Indonesian live rock we are used to handling. Overall we are very impressed with this product and hope to see it replace collected live rock partially or entirely in modern reef setups.

does this offer filteration though
It does offer biological filtration. It is inoculated with beneficial bacteria and coraline algae. Natural live rock also contains invertebrates that help recycle wastes in addition to beneficial bacteria. However, you get the good with the bad…natural live rock can harbor hitchhiker crabs, aiptasia, mantis shrimp, etc.
